The first Saturday in September each year marks International Vulture Awareness Day.
At our conservation zoo, we will be marking the occasion by helping you build stronger connections to wildlife in our shared spaces of wonder, with a full weekend of activities dedicated to this critically endangered species.
Join us throughout the day on the weekend of 2-3 September:
Meet our experts
We'll have a dedicated stall over at Land of the Lions next to our Rüppell’s griffon vulture enclosure - meet our keepers and learn more about these fascinating birds, who are vital to the global ecosystem.
Special talks and feeds
Join us to watch our vultures getting fed with an inspiring talk from their dedicated keepers at 11:30am and 3pm each day over the weekend.
Colouring-in for the kids
Head on over to our exhibit to get involved with themed arts and crafts over the weekend to help those young and old learn more about this incredible species.
And much, much more!
Keep your eyes peeled for videos and posters around the site on your visit showcasing the wonders of Rüppell’s griffon vultures and helping us raise awareness of the plight they face in the wild. There will be donation points so please give what you can to help us protect this vital species worldwide.
In the build-up to International Vulture Awareness Day, join us LIVE from within our Rüppell’s griffon vulture enclosure at Land of the Lions.
