The Christmas season is upon us, and we’ve got a whole host of eco-friendly festivities and magical experiences for the whole family at London Zoo.
Go green this Christmas
Animals around the world are losing their homes, but small changes can have a big impact on the environment. This year at London Zoo, a ZSL conservation zoo, we’re asking everyone to have a greener Christmas and make a difference to wildlife around the world.
By recycling household items into gifts, it will provide hours of creative fun for the kids, and a DIY Christmas decoration is the perfect sentimental and sustainable present to be cherished.
Make your own festive robin decoration for your Christmas tree
It’s time to get crafting! Here’s an easy animal-themed Christmas craft idea in five steps:
What you’ll need
- A toilet roll tube
- Scissors
- A single hole punch
- A glue stick
- Coloured ribbons or string
- Sticky eyes
- Tummy, beak and wing cut outs.
Recycled robin instructions
- Collect your cardboard tube and glue on a red circle to create the robin’s tummy.
- Fold a yellow square in half diagonally to create a beak and stick above the robin’s tummy.
- Give your robin some eyes.
- Cut out and glue on wings to the back of your robin.
- Punch holes into either side of the top of your robin and tie string or ribbon through.
- Hang your robin on the Christmas tree and take a photo to share with us on social media – we’d love to see them!
